Trastevere is owned by the Cafolla family. The Cafollas have been in the restaurant business in Dublin since the 1920's. Trastevere opened in 1996 and became a favourite with Dubliners.

Trastevere in Italian means 'across the Tiber'. It is the 'Left Bank' of Rome and is a very lively district. Narrow winding streets feed into piazzas. Restaurants gelaterias and coffee bars are everywhere. Locals and tourists mix creating an atmosphere not to be missed when in Rome

Trastevere's huge glass windows front onto the main square where you can watch the lively atmosphere outside with buskers and street entertainment most nights. We are the only restaurant with a large outside terrace seating area on Temple Bar Square.

The restaurant has a lively, bustling atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food style is a mix of traditional and progressive Italian, using the freshest and finest local produce along with the best of Italian imported foodstuffs.
